Why is HSP Therapy Beneficial?
HSPs are a true gift to our society at large, but oftentimes feel overwhelmed with the burdens of life they are not able to share their gifts and fully thrive. While everyone is considered sensitive to some degree Dr. Aaron has shown that some mammals have an especially sensitive nervous system. In my work with clients and in my own personal life as a highly sensitive person myself, I often like to use the metaphor of the orchid people who are sensitive are often like an orchid they might need certain things in order to feel comfortable in their environment due to their nervous systems but in the right environment they have a higher capacity to thrive. Our culture does not value sensitivity therefore highly sensitive people often feel they are too much or there is something wrong with them. However therapy for highly sensitive people can be a great way to reframe this narrative, and truly embrace the gifts of sensitivity.
